I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have worked in the NHS for a number of years in a variety of mental health services. I am able to support young people and adults experiencing a range of emotional difficulties including anxiety, OCD, trauma, body-image concerns, low mood, adjustment issues, and low self-esteem. I specialise in working with young people who experience emotional difficulties associated with a health condition, with my NHS role within paediatrics. I am able to draw upon a range of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and ideas from Narrative Therapy. I am also able to offer a full cognitive assessment if it is felt it may be helpful to understand some of the presenting concerns. This would include a full cognitive report with recommendations.
In addition, I have an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I have a special interest in Sport Psychology and the relationship between mental health and performance. I previously played tennis to a professional level, and worked as a coach for many years. This experience can help to understand some of the pressures in high performance settings. It has developed my passion for supporting athletes with the mental demands of their sport.
I would welcome any enquires related to supporting an athletes emotional well-being within performance sporting environments. I aim to help clients develop their insight into the mental and emotional demands of their sport, and how they can then work with these pressures to enhance performance and well-being. I work with individual athletes, coaches and the systems surrounding an athlete.
I am currently able to offer clinic appointments in Wilmslow, South Manchester and Knutsford.
